It is very easy for a CEO to get on a conference call and talk about confidence in the future while communicating glowing projections, but do they really believe what they are saying? Are there any actions that would make you believe what they are saying? Senior management purchasing company stock is a strong indicator of confidence in the future. Another indicator is sticking with a dividend plan, including regular increases.

Below are several select companies with a management confident enough to increase their cash dividends:

Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. (SKT) is a real estate investment trust. The firm focuses on developing, acquiring, owning, operating, and managing outlet shopping centers. April 10, the company increased its quarterly dividend 6.7% to $0.24 per share. The dividend is payable May 15, 2014 to stockholders of record on April 30, 2014. The yield based on the new payout is 2.7%.

Lakeland Financial Corporation (LKFN) operates as the holding company for Lake City Bank that provides various commercial and retail banking, wealth advisory, and investment management services in Indiana. April 9, the company increased its quarterly dividend 10.5% to $0.21 per share. The dividend is payable May 5, 2014 to stockholders of record on April 25, 2014. The yield based on the new payout is 2.2%.

Chatham Lodging Trust (CLDT) is an equity real estate investment trust. The firm invests in the real estate markets of the U.S. April 9, the company increased its monthly dividend 14.3% to $0.08 per share. The Marcus Corporation (MCS) engages in lodging and entertainment businesses in the U.S. It operates through two segments, Movie Theatres, and Hotels and Resorts. April 8, the company increased its quarterly dividend 12% to $0.095 per share. The dividend is payable May 15, 2014, to stockholders of record on April 25 2014. The yield based on the new payout is 2.3%.

The Procter & Gamble Company (PG) manufactures and sells branded consumer packaged goods. April 7, the company increased its quarterly dividend 7% to $0.6436 per share. The dividend is payable May 15, 2014 to stockholders of record on April 25, 2014. The yield based on the new payout is 3.2%.

The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (BK) provides various financial products and services in the U.S. and internationally. April 7, the company increased its quarterly dividend 13% to $0.17 per share. The dividend is payable May 7, 2014 to stockholders of record on April 25, 2014. The yield based on the new payout is 2.0%.

Artesian Resources Corporation (ARTNA) provides water, wastewater, and other services on the Delmarva Peninsula. April 4, the company increased its quarterly dividend 0.9% to $0.2119 per share. The dividend is payable May 23, 2014 to stockholders of record on May 12, 2014. The yield based on the new payout is 3.8%.
