The Taiwanese IT company, Acer (ASIYF, Financial), has launched the latest smartphones of the Liquid Series in India and hopes to create a customer base in this densely populated country where smartphones are currently selling like hot pancakes. To market its products in India, it has partnered with Snapdeal.com and the pricing strategy is also reasonable when compared to smartphones with similar features, such as those launched by Xiaomi (XIAOMZ, Financial), Microsoft (MSFT, Financial) or OnePlus. Let’s dive in and find out details on the partnership which is expected to yield profits for Acer in the long run.

Why Snapdeal?

As customers are becoming more cost and feature-conscious, mobiles and tablets are one of the fastest growing segments for Snapdeal.com. Acer is well recognized for its performance in providing smart computing solutions, and as it enters the highly competitive Indian smartphone arena, it needs to partner with the best to offer its products. Presently, Snapdeal has more than 25 million registered users and more than 50,000 business sellers. So building an agreement with Snapdeal might prove to be worthwhile for Acer.

According to Abhishek Passi, Vice President of Business Strategy at Snapdeal, “At Snapdeal.com, we are constantly on the lookout for offering our customers great value buys and Acer smartphones are a valuable addition to our smartphone category…”

The valuable offerings to Indian buyers

Acer is trying to target both the low to mid-range Indian buyers as well as the premium range buyers through its offerings. The Liquid E700 targets the low profile to mid-range mobile buyers while Acer Liquid Jade is expected to compete in the premium segment.

The Acer Liquid E700 will compete with Xiaomi and OnePlus, which have recently launched their devices in the Indian market that have elicited a positive response from buyers. To make the Acer Liquid E700 highly competitive, Acer has added some extra features which is not available with rivals in this segment. For example, the Acer phone will provide triple SIM usage with 3G connectivity.

The Liquid E700 is powered with a 1.2 GHz Quadcore Mediatek MT6582 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in memory. The built-in memory feature in this Acer smartphone easily competes with Redmi Note 4G of Xiaomi which lags behind sporting only 8GB of ROM. If the Acer smartphone gets better views through the Snapdeal site, it might add to the turnover of the tech company phenomenally in the upcoming quarters, just like Xiaomi’s Redmi Note which has created a hype in the Indian smartphone space.

Build on Android's KitKat 4.4 platform, the price for the E700 smartphone is around $194, which makes it more lucrative for buyers taking the added features into account.

During the launch, Allen Burnes, Vice President of Smart Phones Business said, ”At Acer we are conscious of the world getting faster and demanding more from life in every way. Their dependence on technology is growing and so we want to make their lives simpler and enriching. Therefore, while the Liquid Jade appeals to the elegant, beauty conscious and highly social user, the Liquid E700 is more suited to the upbeat business traveller who demands to remain connected round the clock. Its ‘always on’ capability helps users to multi-task between work and entertainment. All this comes sealed with the promise of quality from the Acer brand name.”

The Acer Liquid Jade has a dual-sim slot, runs on Android KitKat 4.4 version, boasts a 5-inch IPS ‘Zero Air Gap’ Display, features Gorilla Glass 3 screen and has a 16GB built-in memory, which can be expanded by a microSD card up to 32 GB. Unlike the Liquid E700, this smartphone targets users for whom every device or accessory carried is an expression of their style and personality.

Acer seems to have re-entered the Indian terrain with all guns blazing to achieve victory in both the mid-range as well as the premium range smartphone market. Through the association with Snapdeal, the tech giant is about to create a difference in the mode of selling smartphones to Indian buyers. Let’s stay tuned for more sales information on this Liquid series in India which would stand testimony to Acer’s thriving market position in the country.
