With the recent release of the Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft (MSFT, Financial) has mentioned that it is destined to enter the market of mobile operating system with this release. This in fact falls in line with Microsoft CEO’s words of “mobile-first, cloud-first” and clearly indicates that the technology giant is trying to better its market share in the mobile market which is currently under the dominance of tech stalwarts, Apple (AAPL, Financial) and Google (GOOG, Financial). It’s truly stated that in the mobile industry there is no room for new comers who don’t care for their customers and their daily needs in terms of their technological requirements. Let’s quickly find out how Microsoft plans to take control of the smartphone market which is presently being dominated by Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android operating system.

Creating its space in the mobile market

To advocate the universality of the use of Windows 10 as the mobile operating system, Microsoft has signed an agreement with Cyanogen in terms of software compatibility for applications on the mobile using Windows 10 as the OS. It is being expected that the Microsoft Windows 10 would be an extraordinary operating system which would not be open source like Android or a closed one as iOS of Apple.

Microsoft urges to take steps that will create a uniform experience for all the users of its Windows 10 OS in mobiles that would in return improve the company’s reputation in the mobile market. The company’s continued focus on cloud computing also makes it a contender in the mobile computing market where it’s trying to push for mobile computing through its Windows 10 mobile approach. Microsoft’s “Universal Applications” allows the users to use the same application on different Microsoft platforms, thus aiding in using it on multiple devices at a point in time.

It has been proved several times in the past that an OS that can operate on multiple platforms always emerges the final winner, and Microsoft aims to be so through the launch of the upcoming Microsoft Windows 10 mobile OS. The failure of Windows 8 as a mobile operating system is something not worth discussing as there were low adoption rates for the OS in the consumer market, but all eyes would now be set on the upcoming mobile OS and its demand in the market is yet to be tested.

The software maker has just started previewing a phone version of Office for Windows 10 last week, but this would require smartphone owners to upgrade their OS to the preview version of Windows 10 Mobile.

With Microsoft expecting to bring Windows 10 Mobile software by the end of the year, it remains to be seen if the new OS aids in growing Microsoft’s market share in the phone market.

Last word

The tech giant knows how to place its cards to win the battle against Apple and Google’s OS. More will be revealed after the Windows 10 Mobile version hits the market by the end of 2015. Let’s stay tuned and keep an eye on what more developments are likely to happen for the technology leader about to make its presence felt in the smartphone arena with its new OS.
