Westport, Connecticut-based Westport Asset Management (Trades, Portfolio) is an investment advisory firm that manages four accounts collectively valued at $143 million. It produced returns of 8.62% last year, 28.54% in 2013 and 12.26% in 2012.

Westport nearly sold its entire stake in Republic Services Inc. (RSG, Financial), a Phoenix, Arizona-based solid waste management company. Westport began the quarter with 417,500 shares of RSG in its portfolio and sold 392,500 shares for an average price of $40.23 per share. The sale had a -1.66% impact on Westport’s portfolio.

(SNPS, Financial) and Willis Group Holdings PLC (WSH, Financial).

Westport did sell its stakes in two companies in the second quarter – MSC Industrial Direct Co. Inc. (MSM, Financial) and AbbVie Inc. (ABBV, Financial).

Wesport sold its 152,800-share stake in MSC Industrial Direct, a New York-based industrial equipment distributor, for an average price of $71.2 per share. The sale had a -1.15% impact on Westport’s portfolio.

MSC Industrial Direct has a market cap of $4.42 billion and an enterprise value of $4.86 billion. It has a P/E of 18.9, a Price/Book of 3.4 and a Price/Sales of 1.5.
