U.S. market indexes were mixed on Thursday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average reaching a new high.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 20,619.77 for a gain of 7.91 points or 0.04%. The Standard & Poor's 500 closed at 2,347.22 for a loss of 2.03 points or 0.09%. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 5,814.90 for a loss of 4.54 points or 0.08%. The VIX Volatility Index was lower for the day at 11.76 for a loss of 0.21 points or 1.75%.
