Hewlett Packard Enterprise Announces Dividend

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (HPE, Financial) has announced a quarterly dividend of 6.5 cents with an ex-dividend date of June 12. The stock is currently trading at $18.09 with a forward dividend yield of 1.45%.

In 2017, the stock is down -21.87%. It has a one-year return of 3.91% and has gained 6.35% since its separation with Hewlett Packard Inc. (HP, Financial). On Feb. 23, the company released its most recent first quarter earnings report for the technology enterprise-focused business. Revenue for the first quarter was $11.4 billion, missing estimates by $670 million and decreasing -10.4% from the comparable quarter. Earnings per share for the first quarter were 45 cents, beating estimates by one cent and increasing 10% from the comparable quarter.

The company’s revenue was generated from four main business segments, which included enterprise group, enterprise services, software and financial services. The enterprise group generated the majority of revenue at $6.3 billion, which was down 12% from the comparable quarter.

The first quarter’s results were discussed by IDC Research and Khosla Ventures following the earnings release.

The company will report its second quarter earnings on May 22. In the second quarter, the company has completed another spinoff, selling its enterprise services business to merge with Computer Sciences Corp. to create DXC Technology. In March, it also reported the acquisition of Nimble Storage Inc. (NMBL, Financial).

The company’s top shareholder is Dodge & Cox with 12.54%. Meg Whitman, president and chief executive officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, also has significant shareholder ownership with 767,599 shares.
