Wall Street Opens With Mixed Results Ahead of BlackRock Results and China's Expansion

The markets are trading in mixed territory after U.S. stock market hit record highs on Friday, and futures are indicating stocks could go up more today.

The second-quarter earnings season started last Friday with Citigroup (C, Financial), JPMorgan (JPM, Financial) and Wells Fargo (WFC, Financial). Today, BlackRock (BLK, Financial) reported EPS of $5.24 and revenue of $2.97 billion, coming in short by 15 cents and $40 million.

China's economy grew more than expected in the second quarter due to an increase in industrial production and consumption. The economy grew by 6.9% year over year during the quarter.

Among the most active securities today are AcelRx Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ACRX, Financial), Nvidia Corp. (NVDA, Financial), Micron Technology Inc. (MU, Financial), Nutanix Inc. (NTNX, Financial), Apple Inc. (AAPL, Financial), Netflix Inc. (NFLX, Financial), Facebook Inc. (FB, Financial) and Tesla Inc. (TSLA, Financial).

Europe

The main exchanges in Europe are closing with mixed results. The FTSE 100, DAX, CAC 40 and IBEX 35 closed down around 0.25%, -0.45% and -0.1%, respectively.
