The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6936.58 for a gain of 80.06 points or 1.17%. The VIX Volatility Index was lower for the day at 9.42 for a loss of -1.07 points or -10.20%.
For the week, the S&P 500 gained 0.9%, the Dow Jones gained 1.3% and the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.4%.
Friday’s market movers
