Consuelo Mack Interviews David Winters

This week Consuelo Mack is joined on WealthTrack by David Winters, a noted value investor who Smart Money magazine identified as one of the “world’s greatest investors”. He searches the world for high quality companies selling at deep discounts to their intrinsic values through the Wintergreen Fund, which brings a hedge fund’s “go anywhere and invest in anything” flexibility to mutual fund customers. In this interview, Winters shares where he is finding value in the market now.





In 2008 David Winters's fund lost 39%, because, according to him, they were net buyers and they were a bit early. They went to a global treasury hunting,not knowing exactly how ugly the situation will become.


This year, the Wintergreen Fund has gained 32.42% so far (December 30), beating the general market.


Looking forward, David Winters thinks that there are still values to be had if you look at the individual stocks, and these stocks are not necessarily all in the 50 states in the US.


David Winters discussed extensively that he looks for companies whose management acts in the owner's best interest.
