One you put Mohamed El-Erian, PIMCO CEO & co-CIO and Nouriel Roubini, NYU Stern School of Business professor or otherwise known as “Dr. Doom” in the same show, you get a double dose of negativity.

The PIMCO camp (represented by Bill Gross and Mohamed El-Erian) has been singing the tune of “New Normal” in the recent months. In their framework, the global economy in the next couple of years will be anemic.

Of course, Roubini is predicting a double dip into recession on a global level.

As investors, especially value investors using bottom-up approach, the comments from commentators like Mohamed and Nouriel could be just noise in the background, however, the universal underperformance of both value and growth investors alike suggests one cannot throw the macro-economy trend all together.
