Auburn National Bancorp Inc was incorporated in Delaware in 1990. It is a bank holding company whose main business is conducted by its wholly-owned subsidiary, AuburnBank (the 'Bank'). The Bank provides banking services in its main market area, Lee County, which includes the Auburn-Opelika Metropolitan area. The Bank offers checking, savings, transaction deposit accounts and certificates of deposit, and is an active residential mortgage lender in its primary service area (PSA). The Bank's PSA includes the cities of Auburn and Opelika, Alabama and nearby surrounding areas in East Alabama, in Lee County. The Bank also offers loan portfolio into five segments: commercial and industrial, construction and land development, commercial real estate, residential real estate, and consumer installment loans. Commercial and industrial segment includes loans to finance business operations, equipment purchases, or other needs for small and medium-sized commercial customers. Also included in this category are loans to finance agricultural production. Construction and land development segment includes both loans and credit lines for the purpose of purchasing, carrying and developing land into commercial developments or residential subdivisions. Also included are loans and lines for construction of residential, multi-family and commercial buildings. Commercial real estate segment includes loans disaggregated into two classes: Owner occupied, includes loans secured by business facilities to finance business operations, equipment and owner-occupied facilities for small and medium-sized commercial customers; Other, includes loans to finance income-producing commercial and multi-family properties. Residential real estate segment includes loans disaggregated into two classes: consumer mortgage and investment property. Consumer mortgage includes first or second lien mortgages and home equity lines to consumers that are secured by a primary residence or second home. Investment property includes loans to finance income-producing 1-4 family residential properties. Consumer installment segment includes loans to individuals both secured by personal property and unsecured. Loans include personal lines of credit, automobile loans, and other retail loans. The Bank is a provider of automated teller services in East Alabama and operates ATM machines in 14 locations in its PSA. The Bank offers Visa Checkcards, which are debit cards with the Visa logo that work like checks but can be used anywhere Visa is accepted, including ATMs. The Bank's Visa Checkcards can be used internationally through the Cirrus network. The Bank offers online banking and bill payment services through its Internet website. The Bank competes for deposits, loans and other business with these banks, as well as with credit unions, mortgage companies, insurance companies, and other local and nonlocal financial institutions, including institutions offering services through the mail, by telephone
