Bank of Hawaii Corporation is a Delaware corporation and a bank holding company. The Company's banking subsidiary, Bank of Hawaii, was organized under the laws of Hawaii on December 17, 1897. The Banks deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The Bank is a member of the Federal Reserve System. The Bank provides a range of financial services and products mainly to customers in Hawaii, Guam, and other Pacific Islands. The Company is organized into four business segments for management reporting purposes: Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Investment Services, and Treasury and other. The Bank's subsidiaries are engaged in equipment leasing, securities brokerage, investment services, wholesale insurance and insurance agency services. The Company's Retail Banking offers a range of financial products and services to consumers and small businesses. Loan and lease products include residential mortgage loans, home equity lines of credit, automobile loans and leases, and installment loans. Deposit products include checking, savings, and time deposit accounts. Retail banking also offers retail life insurance products and provides merchant services to its small business customers. The Company's Commercial Banking offers products including corporate banking, commercial real estate loans, commercial lease financing, auto dealer financing, and deposit and cash management products. Commercial lending, deposit, and cash management services are offered to middle-market and large companies in Hawaii. The Company's Investment Services includes private banking, trust services, asset management, and institutional investment advisory services. The Company's Treasury consists of corporate asset and liability management activities, including interest rate risk management and a foreign exchange business. The Company faces competition from banks, savings associations, credit unions, mortgage companies, finance companies, mutual funds, brokerage firms, insurance companies, and other providers of financial services, including financial service subsidiaries of commercial and manufacturing companies. It also competes with non-financial institutions that offer financial products and services. The Company's operations are subject to extensive regulation by federal and state governmental authorities.
