Business Description

Capitol Federal Financial, Inc. is a Maryland corporation that was incorporated in April 2010 to be the successor corporation upon completion of the mutual-to-stock conversion of Capitol Federal Savings Bank MHC. The bank is the only operating subsidiary of the Company. The Company's revenues are derived from interest on loans and mortgage-related securities and interest and dividends on investment securities. Its main sources of funds are customer deposits, borrowings, scheduled amortization and prepayments of mortgage loan principal and mortgage-backed securities and calls and maturities of investment securities and funds provided by operations. The company offers a variety of deposit accounts having a wide range of interest rates and terms, which generally include passbook and statement savings accounts, money market accounts, interest bearing and non-interest bearing checking accounts and certificates of deposit with terms ranging from 91 days to 96 months. Its main lending activity is the origination of loans secured by first mortgages on one- to four-family residential properties. The Company also makes consumer loans, construction loans secured by residential properties, commercial properties and multi-family real estate and loans secured by multi-family dwellings or commercial properties. Its mortgage loans carry either a fixed or an adjustable-rate of interest. The Bank is subject to regulation and oversight by the OCC extending to all aspects of its operations.
