Business Description

CNinsure, Inc. is a holding company was incorporated in the Cayman Islands on April 10, 2007. It is an independent insurance intermediary company operating in China. The Company markets and sells to its customer's two main categories of insurance products: property and casualty insurance products and life insurance products both focused on meeting the insurance needs of individuals. The insurance products it sells are underwritten by many insurance companies in China. The property and casualty insurance products the Company distributes are: Automobile Insurance, Individual Accident Insurance, Commercial Property Insurance, Homeowner Insurance, Cargo Insurance, Hull Insurance, Liability Insurance and Construction Insurance. Automobile insurance is the largest segment of property and casualty insurance in the PRC in terms of gross written premiums. The Company distributes both standard automobile insurance policies and supplemental policies, which it refers to as riders. The individual accident insurance products it distributes generally provide a guaranteed benefit in the event of death or disability of the insured as a result of an accident. The commercial property insurance products it distributes include basic, complete and all risk policies. The homeowner insurance products it distributes are home mortgage-based insurance policies. The cargo insurance products it distributes cover damage to or loss of goods in transit by sea, land or air. In addition, it also offers individual accident insurance, commercial property insurance, and construction insurance products. The life insurance products it distributes are: Individual Whole Life Insurance, Individual Term Life Insurance, Individual Endowment Life Insurance, Individual Education Annuity, Universal Insurance, Individual Health Insurance and Group Life Insurance. The individual whole life insurance provides insurance for the insured person's entire life in exchange for the periodic payment of fixed premiums over a pre-determined period, generally ranging from five to 20 years, or until the insured reaches a certain age. The individual endowment products it distributes generally provide maturity benefits if the insured reaches specified age, and provide to a beneficiary designated by the insured guaranteed benefits upon the death of the insured within the coverage period. The individual annuity products it distributes are mainly education related products. The Company distributes certain universal insurance products that provide not only insurance coverage but also a minimum guaranteed return on the amount the insured puts into an individual investment account. The individual health insurance products it distributes mainly consist of dread disease insurance products, which provide guaranteed benefits for specified dread diseases during the coverage period.
