Centrica PLC is engaged in the integrated energy business. Its business is operated through four major brands: British Gas, Centrica Energy, Centrica Storage, and Direct Energy. British Gas is engaged through the Downstream UK business, which is involved in the supply of gas, electricity and services for UK residential and business customers. Downstream UK business also installs and maintains domestic central heating and gas appliances. Centrica Energy is engaged through the Upstream UK business, which is involved in the production, generation, optimisation and trading of energy in the UK. Upstream UK owns and operates eight gas fired power stations and it also buys and sells gas and power from a variety of sources. Centrica Storage is engaged through the Storage UK business, which is involved in the gas storage in the UK. Direct Energy is engaged through the North America business, which includes the activities of downstream and upstream in the North America. The group has operations in the UK, USA, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark and Trinidad and Tobago.
