Danaos Corp is the owner of containerships, chartering its vessels to many of the liner companies. It deploys its containership fleet mainly under multi-year charters with liner companies that operate regularly scheduled routes between commercial ports.

Based in Greece but incorporated in the Marshall Islands, Danaos owns and operates containerships that are rented to some of the world's largest container shipping companies under multiyear, fixed-rate contracts. Founded in 1972 by Dimitri Coustas, Danaos went public in 2006. Since 1987, the company's fleet has expanded from three vessels to 49. By the end of 2012, the firm expects to have nearly 70 vessels.
