Extreme Networks, Inc. was incorporated in California in May 1996 and reincorporated in Delaware in March 1999. The Company is a provider of network infrastructure equipment & services for enterprises, data centers, & service providers. Its customers include businesses, hospitals, hotels, universities, telecommunications companies & government agencies. The Company primarily sells its products through an ecosystem of its channel partners who combine its Ethernet products with their offerings to create compelling information technology solutions for end user customers. It builds its products into vertical markets solutions for converged campus networks with user and device mobility, and for Data Center and Cloud administrators to virtualize their server and storage over an Ethernet infrastructure, and Service Providers to provide bandwidth and Service Level Agreements for Carrier Ethernet, 3G and 4G services. Its product categories include Modular Ethernet switching systems, Stackable Ethernet switching systems, Wireless Ethernet controllers and access points, and Centralized Management software. The Company conducts its sales and marketing activities on a worldwide basis through a distribution channel utilizing distributors, resellers and its field sales organization. The Company outsources the majority of its manufacturing and supply chain management operations. The market for network switches, which is part of the broader market for networking equipment, is extremely competitive and characterized by rapid technological progress, frequent new product introductions, changes in customer requirements and evolving industry standards. The Company is subject to various environmental and other regulations governing product safety, materials usage, packaging and other environmental impacts in the United States and in various countries where its products are manufactured and sold.
