Business Description

Home Federal Bancorp, Inc. of Louisiana is a holding company for Home Federal Savings and Loan Association. The Bank is a federally chartered, stock savings and loan association and is subject to federal regulation by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Office of Thrift Supervision. Services are provided to its customers by three offices, all of which are located in the City of Shreveport, Louisiana. The area served by the Bank is primarily the Shreveport-Bossier City metropolitan area; however, loan and deposit customers are found dispersed in a wider geographical area covering much of northwest Louisiana. It faces significant competition both in attracting deposits and in making loans. Home Federal Savings and Loan Association, as a federally chartered savings and loan association, is subject to federal regulation and oversight by the Office of Thrift Supervision extending to all aspects of its operations. The Bank also is subject to regulation and examination by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.The company also offers lines of credit secured by a borrower's equity in real estate which loans. Investment Portfolio As of June 30, 2009, the company's investment portfolio included mortgage-backed securities; corporate securities; and FHLB stock. Its mortgage-backed securities consist of Ginnie Mae securities (GNMA), Freddie Mac securities (FHLMC), and Fannie Mae securities (FNMA). Deposits The company attracts deposits principally from residents of Louisiana and particularly from Caddo Parish and Bossier Parish. It accepts deposits in the form of passbook savings, NOW, money market accounts, certificates of deposit, and demand deposit accounts.
