Business Description

Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A. was incorporated under the laws of the Hellenic Republic in 1949. It is a full-service telecommunications group and a provider of fixed-line voice telephony and internet access services in Greece. It also provides mobile telecommunications services in Greece, through Cosmote, its wholly-owned subsidiary. In addition, it provides fixed-line voice telephony and internet access services in Romania and mobile telecommunications services in Albania, Bulgaria, FYROM and Romania. The Company provides local, long-distance and international fixed-line telecommunications services in Greece and Romania. It also offers internet access services and fully integrated IP-based telecommunications solutions. In addition, it offers a range of other telecommunications services, including value-added services, Intelligent Network services, IT application development and IP-based hosting services, leased lines, public telephone services, operator assistance services, sales of equipment, directory services and satellite telecommunications. It has installed broadband network across Greece and currently offers ADSL services in all large cities of Greece. It offers mobile telephony services through Cosmote and its subsidiaries in Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, FYROM and Romania. The Company provides telecommunications services on a wholesale basis to other telecommunications providers and ISPs in Greece, including wholesale ADSL access services, interconnection services, leased lines, data telecommunications services and local loop unbundling. The main categories of retail fixed-line telecommunications services the Company provides are: PSTN and ISDN access and traffic and value-added services; ADSL internet access and data services; leased lines; E-Line; IP-based solutions and IP-VPN services; Intelligent Network services and premium rate services, including special interest chat lines and recordings; and public telephone services. The main categories of wholesale fixed-line telecommunications services it provides are: interconnection; leased lines; E-Line; data telecommunications services; ADSL; and local loop unbundling. It offers a number of tariff packages that generally consist of a monthly fixed payment for access to its network and a variable usage-based component. The Company offers broadband (ADSL) and dial-up internet access and IP-related services to residential customers and ADSL, IP-based telecommunications services, such as IP-VPN and IP-based hosting services to corporate and business customers. On December 31, 2008, it expanded its ADSL infrastructure to 1,420 points of presence. The Company has developed the sales and sales service channels of its fixed-line telephony business for both its residential and business customers. The Company operates within a competitive environment and is subject to the requirements of the Telecommunications Law and the supervision of the National Telecommunications
