Business Description

Home Federal Bancorp, Inc. a Maryland corporation, was organized by Home Federal MHC, Home Federal Bancorp, Inc., and Home Federal Bank to facilitate the "second-step" conversion of the Bank from the mutual holding company structure to the stock holding company structure. The Company's business activity is the ownership of the outstanding capital stock of Home Federal Bank. The Company is engaged in the business of attracting deposits from consumers and businesses in its market areas and utilizing those deposits to originate loans. It offers a range of loan products to meet the credit needs of its clients. The Company's main lending activity has consisted of the origination of loans secured by first mortgages on owner-occupied, one-to-four family residences and loans for the construction of one-to-four family residences. The Company also originates consumer loans, with an emphasis on home equity loans and lines of credit. Home Federal Bank currently has operations in three distinct market areas. The bank's main market area is the Boise, Idaho, metropolitan statistical area and surrounding communities, together known as the Treasure Valley region of southwestern Idaho, including Ada, Canyon, Elmore and Gem counties. The Company faces intense competition in originating loans and in attracting deposits within its targeted geographic markets. Its competition for loans comes principally from mortgage bankers, commercial banks, credit unions and finance companies. The Company's main competitors are U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, Umpqua Bank, Bank of America and KeyBank. As a state-chartered, federally insured commercial bank, Home Federal Bank is subject to extensive regulation by the Department and the applicable provisions of Idaho law and regulations of the Department adopted thereunder.
