Intelsat SA was established on an interim basis in 1964 and formally established in February 1973. The Company is engaged in satellite services business, provides a layer in the communications infrastructure. The Company provides with diversified communications services to the media companies, fixed and wireless telecommunications operators, data networking service providers for enterprise and mobile applications, multinational corporations, and Internet service providers ("ISPs"). It also the provider of commercial satellite capacity to the U.S. government and other selected military organizations and their contractors. The Company is engaged in business-to-business services, indirectly enabling enterprise, government and consumer applications through customers. Its customer contracts offer four different service types: transponder services, managed services, channel services and mobile satellite services and other. The Company also provides satellite capacity for network services to customers including Airbus Defence & Space, Bharti, France Telecom, Harris Caprock UK Limited, Verizon, Vodaphone. It is provider of satellite capacity for media services. The customers in media services include Discovery Communications, Fox Entertainment Group, Home Box Office, DIRECTV, The Walt Disney Company, Turner Broadcasting Company. The Company competes in the communications market for the provision of video, data and voice connectivity. The competitors include providers of fixed satellite services of varying size. It also competes with providers of terrestrial fiber optic cable capacity on certain routes and networks, principally for point-to-point services. The Company is subject to U.S. government regulation, regulation by foreign national telecommunications authorities and the ITU frequency coordination process and regulations.
