Insurance Australia Group Ltd is a general insurance provider. It offers its insurance products in Australia, New Zealand and Asian countries. Its insurance products include comprehensive motor and motor fleet, commercial property, construction and engineering, consumer credit, extended warranty, farm, crop and livestock, home and contents and marine insurance. It also offers niche insurance products such as veteran, vintage and classic car, boat, caravan and travel, professional indemnity and public and product liability. The Company operates through four business divisions. The Australia Direct Insurance segment comprises insurance products distributed through a network of branches, franchises and country service centers throughout Australia as well as call centers and online facilities using predominantly the NRMA Insurance, SGIO and SGIC brands as well as via a distribution relationship and underwriting joint venture with RACV Limited. The Australia Intermediated Insurance segment comprises insurance products primarily sold under the CGU and Swann Insurance brands through insurance brokers, authorized representatives and distribution partners. The New Zealand Insurance segment comprises the general insurance business underwritten through subsidiaries in New Zealand. The insurance products are predominantly sold directly to customers under the State and AMI brands, and through intermediaries such as brokers and agents using the NZI brand. Personal and commercial products are also distributed by corporate partners, such as large financial institutions, using third party brands. The Asia Insurance segment comprises primarily the direct and intermediated insurance business underwritten through subsidiaries in Thailand and from investment in associates in Malaysia, Vietnam, India and China. The businesses offer personal and commercial insurance products through local brands.
