GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Business Description

Internap Network Services was incorporated as a Washington corporation in 1996 and reincorporated in Delaware in 2001. It provides high-performance IT infrastructure services that enable its customers to focus on their core business, improve service levels and lower the cost of IT operations. The Company's colocation, connectivity and managed hosting solutions are differentiated by superior performance, availability and support. Data center services are comprised of colocation and managed hosting. Colocation allows its customers to deploy and manage their servers, storage and other equipment in its secure data centers. The Company's managed hosting services increase its customers' operating flexibility while eliminating the need to provision and manage their own data centers, servers, storage and operating systems. It sells its colocation and/or managed hosting services at 38 data centers across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. It refers to nine of these facilities as 'company-controlled,' meaning it controls the data centers' operations and infrastructure and has directly negotiated long-term leases with the properties' lessors. IP services include its patented Performance IP service, its XIP Acceleration-as-a-Service solution, its content delivery network (CDN) and flow control platform (FCP) products. By intelligently routing traffic with redundant, high-speed connections over multiple major Internet backbones, its IP services provide high-performance and highly-reliable delivery of content, applications and communications to end-users globally. The Company's IP services are sold through 77 Internet Protocol (IP) service points around the world, which include 18 CDN points of presence (POPs) and one additional standalone CDN POP. The Company's service level agreements (SLAs) guarantee performance across multiple networks covering a broader segment of the Internet in the United States, excluding local connections, than providers of conventional Internet connectivity which typically only guarantee performance on their own network. It currently has approximately 3,700 customers across 28 metropolitan markets, serving a variety of industries, such as entertainment and media, including gaming; financial services; business services; software, including software-as-a-service (SaaS); hosting and information technology infrastructure; and telecommunications. The market for its services is intensely competitive and is characterized by technological change, the introduction of new products and services and price erosion. The Company's competitors are Equinix, Inc.; Rackspace, Inc.; Peer 1 Network Enterprises, Inc.; AT&T Inc.; Sprint Nextel Corporation; Verizon Communications Inc.;Akamai Technologies, Inc.; Limelight Networks, Inc.; Riverbed Technology, Inc.; F5 Networks, Inc. etc.
