Innospec, Inc. is a Delaware corporation which became an independent company on May 22, 1998. Innospec develops, manufactures, blends and markets fuel additives, personal care and fragrance products and other specialty chemicals. Innospec divides its business into three distinct segments as: Fuel Specialties, Performance Chemicals and Octane Additives. The Fuel Specialties segment develops, manufactures blends and markets a range of specialty chemical products used as additives to a wide range of fuels. The segment specializes in manufacturing and supplying fuel additives that help improve fuel efficiency boost engine performance and reduce harmful emissions. The segment's products are used in the efficient operation of automotive, marine and aviation engines, power station generators, and heating and diesel particulate filter systems. Its customers are national oil companies, multinational oil companies and fuel retailers. The Performance Chemicals segment provides effective technology-based solutions for its customers' processes or products focused in the Personal Care; Household, Industrial & Institutional; and Fragrance Ingredients markets. Its customers range from large multinational companies and manufacturers of personal care and household products, to specialty chemical manufacturers operating in niche industries. The Octane Additives segment is the producer of tetra ethyl lead ("TEL"). It comprises sales of TEL for use in automotive gasoline and trading in respect of its environmental remediation business. The Company uses a variety of raw materials and chemicals in its manufacturing and blending processes. The Company's major purchases are cetane number improvers, various solvents and ethylene. The Company's products are sold mainly to oil refineries, personal care and fragrance companies and other chemical and industrial companies. The Company competes on the basis of a number of factors including product quality and performance, specialized product lines, customer relationships and service, and regulatory and toxicological expertise. The Company is subject to environmental laws in all the countries in which it conducts business.
