Investors Real Estate Trust is a self-advised equity Real Estate Investment Trust organized under the laws of North Dakota. Since its formation in 1970, its business has consisted of owning and operating income-producing real estate properties. The Company owns and operates income-producing real estate properties in the United States. It owns multi-family residential properties and commercial office, medical, industrial, and retail properties located primarily in the upper midwest states of Minnesota and North Dakota. As of April 30, 2013, it owned 87 multi-family residential properties with approximately 10,280 apartment units and 182 commercial properties, consisting of commercial office, commercial healthcare, commercial industrial and commercial retail properties, totaling approximately 12.4 million net rentable square feet.
