Business Description

Iron Mountain Incorporated was founded in 1951, under the name Pierce Leahy Corp., as a Pennsylvania corporation. On May 27, 2005, it reincorporated as a Delaware corporation. It is a global full-service provider of information management and related services for all media in various locations throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific. It has a customer base comprised of commercial, legal, banking, health care, accounting, insurance, entertainment and government organizations. It offers comprehensive records management services, data protection & recovery services and information destruction services, along with the expertise and experience to address complex information challenges such as rising storage costs, litigation, regulatory compliance and disaster recovery. The Company has five operating segments: North American Physical Business; Worldwide Digital Business; Europe; Latin America; Asia Pacific. The Company's North American Physical Business and its International Physical Business segments offer physical records management services, data protection & recovery services and information destruction services, in their respective geographies. Worldwide Digital Business provides information protection and storage services for electronic records conveyed via telecommunication lines and the Internet, including online backup and recovery solutions for server data and personal computers, as well as email archiving, eDiscovery services and third party technology escrow services that protect intellectual property assets such as software source code. Europe segment offers information management services throughout Europe, including Hard Copy, Data Protection and Destruction. Latin America segment offers information management services throughout Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Peru, including Hard Copy and Data Protection. Asia Pacific offers information management services throughout Australia and New Zealand, including Hard Copy, Data Protection and Destruction; and in certain cities in India, Singapore, Hong Kong-SAR, China, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, including Hard Copy and Data Protection. Corporate which consists of costs related to executive and staff functions, including finance, human resources and information technology, which benefit the enterprise as a whole. It currently provides services to commercial, legal, banking, healthcare, accounting, insurance, entertainment and government organizations, including more than 97% of the Fortune 1000 and more than 93% of the FTSE 100. The Company competes with its current and potential customers' internal information protection and storage services capabilities. It also competes with multiple information protection and storage service providers in all geographic areas where it operates.
