Kingstone Companies Inc was incorporated in 1961. On December 13, 2013, it completed an underwritten public offering. The Company offers property and casualty insurance products to small businesses and individuals in New York State through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Kingstone Insurance Company ('KICO'). KICO is a licensed property and casualty insurance company in the State of New York. KICO also has obtained a license to write property and casualty insurance in Pennsylvania; however, KICO has only nominally commenced writing business in Pennsylvania. Payments, Inc., its wholly-owned subsidiary, is a licensed premium finance company in the State of New York and receives fees for placing contracts with a third party licensed premium finance company. The Company generates revenues from earned premiums, ceding commissions from quota share reinsurance, net investment income generated from its investment portfolio, and net realized gains and losses on investment securities. It also receives installment fee income, fees charged to reinstate a policy after it has been cancelled for non-payment, and fees for placing premium finance contracts with a third party licensed premium finance company. Its product lines include the following: Personal lines, Commercial liability, Commercial automobile and Livery physical damage and other. Its main line of business is personal lines, consisting of homeowners, dwelling fire, 3-4 family dwelling package, condominium, renters, mechanical breakdown, service line and personal umbrella policies. Through commercial liability, it offers business owners policies which consist mainly of small business retail risks without a residential exposure. It also writes artisan's liability policies and special multi-peril property and liability policies. Through commercial automobile, it provides physical damage and liability coverage for light vehicles owned by small contractors and artisans. Through livery physical damage and other, the Company writes for-hire vehicle physical damage only policies for livery and car service vehicles and taxicabs as well as canine legal liability policies. The Company generates business through its relationships with over 350 independent producers. It competes with large national carriers as well as regional and local carriers in the property and casualty marketplace in New York. The Company, as the parent of KICO, is subject to the insurance holding company laws of the state of New York.
