GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Lattice Semiconductor Corp designs, develops and markets programmable logic products and related software. It also provides design services, customer training, field engineering and technical support.

Lattice Semiconductor Corp was incorporated in Oregon in 1983 and reincorporated in Delaware in 1985. The Company designs, develops and markets programmable logic products and related software. It also provides design services, customer training, field engineering and technical support. Programmable logic products are semiconductor components that can be configured by end customers as specific logic circuits, enabling shorter design cycle times and reduced development costs. There are two main categories of programmable logic devices: field programmable gate arrays (FGPA) and conventional programmable logic devices (PLD), each representing distinctly different silicon architectural approaches. Its business segments are the core Lattice business, which includes intellectual property and semiconductor devices, and Qterics, a discrete software-as-a-service business unit in the Lattice legal entity structure. The Company operates in United States, China, Europe, Japan, Taiwan and Other Asian and American countries. Its primary distributors are Arrow Electronics Inc., and Weikeng Group. The Company's products are found in smartphones, tablets, wearables, and other wireless, battery operated devices. Its iCE40 and XO2ZE product lines combine to achieve a distinctive balance of logic and non-volatile memory. The LatticeECP FPGA family is designed for customers who need FPGAs with digital signal processing, amount of memory, and high-speed serial communications channels, but do not want to pay the price or power premiums of high-end FPGAs. The LatticeECP2M and LatticeECP3 families are able to serve this low density market due to circuit design choices aimed at achieving lower cost and various architectural enhancements to reduce power consumption. The LatticeXP2 Non-Volatile FPGA family embeds a flash memory block on-chip to shore the program unlike a traditional FPGA that requires an external device to load its application program. The PLD products include MachXO2 PLD Family, Lattice iCE Ultra-Low Power PLD Devices, Power Manager, ispClock and Platform Manager Programmable Mixed Signal Devices, and Software Development Tools and Intellectual Property Cores. The Company competes with Altera Corporation and Xilinx, Inc. in the low end FPGA market. It also indirectly competes with other semiconductor companies that provide logic solutions that are not user programmable, or that offer products based on alternative solutions such as ASIC, ASSP, microcontroller, analog and DSP technologies. Its end customers are original equipment manufacturers in the communications, consumer, industrial, scientific and medical, and computing end markets.
