Oxford Resource Partners, LP was formed in August 2007 by American Infrastructure MLP Fund, L.P. The Company is a low cost producer of high value steam coal and produces surface mined coal in Ohio. Its reserves and operations located in Northern Appalachia and the Illinois Basin. The Company's primary market areas are Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. It operates in a single business segment. It currently has 19 active surface mines that are managed as eight mining complexes located in eastern Ohio and western Kentucky. These mines are a combination of area, contour, auger and highwall mining methods using truck/shovel and truck/loader equipment along with large production dozers. The Company also owns and operates seven augers moving them among its mining complexes and two highwall miner systems. Its contour mining operations use truck/loader equipment fleets and large dozers. Its primary customers are major electric utilities, municipalities and cooperatives and industrial customers. The Company competes generally with producers of other fuels, such as natural gas and oil. Federal, state and local authorities regulate the U.S. coal mining industry.
