Business Description

Palo Alto Networks Inc was incorporated in March 2005 under the laws of the State of Delaware and commenced operations in April 2005. The Company offers a next-generation network security platform that allows enterprises, service providers, and government entities to secure their networks and safely enable the increasingly complex and rapidly growing number of applications running on their networks. The core of its platform is the Next-Generation Firewall that delivers natively integrated application, user, and content visibility and control through its proprietary operating system, hardware, and software architecture. The Company's platform is delivered in an appliance form factor and includes a suite of subscription services as well as support and maintenance. Its subscription services could be easily activated on any of its appliances without requiring additional hardware or processing resources, thereby providing a seamless implementation path for its end-customers. All of its appliances incorporate the Company's PAN-OS operating system and are based on the proprietary identification technologies, App-ID, User-ID, and Content-ID, which allow security policies to be defined within the context of applications, users, and content. As a result, the Company's end-customers achieve safe application enablement and advanced levels of security, while maintaining high network performance. The Company serves the enterprise network security market, which consists of Firewall/VPN, Unified Threat Management, Web Gateway, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, and Virtual Private Network technologies. The Company mainly sells its products and services to end-customers through distributors, resellers, and strategic partners, and infrequently directly to end-customers, who are supported by its sales and marketing organization, in the Americas, in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and in Asia Pacific and Japan.
