Piedmont Office Realty Trust, Inc., a Maryland corporation was incorporated in 1987. It operates as a real estate investment trust for federal income tax purposes and engages in the acquisition and ownership of commercial real estate properties throughout the United States, including properties that are under construction, are newly constructed, or have operating histories. The Company conducts business through Piedmont Operating Partnership, L.P. As well as performing the management of its buildings through two wholly-owned subsidiaries, Piedmont Government Services, LLC and Piedmont Office Management, LLC. The Company's current business consists of owning, managing, operating, leasing, acquiring, developing, investing in, and disposing of real estate assets. It internally evaluates all of its real estate assets as one industry segment. The Company competes for tenants for its assets in major U.S. markets by fostering strong tenant relationships and by providing customer service including, asset management, property management, and construction management services.
