GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

QCR Holdings, Inc., was formed in February 1993 under the laws of the state of Delaware. It is a multi-bank holding Company which provides bank and bank related services through its subsidiaries. The Company serves the Quad City, Cedar Rapids, and Rockford communities through its wholly-owned banking subsidiaries, which provide full-service commercial and consumer banking and trust and asset management services. The Company's business consists of attracting deposits and investing those deposits in loans/leases and securities. The deposits of the subsidiary banks are insured to the maximum amount allowable by the FDIC. Its results of operations are dependent on net interest income, which is the difference between the interest earned on its loans/leases and securities and the interest paid on deposits and borrowings. The Company and its subsidiaries provide commercial and retail lending and investment services to corporations, partnerships, individuals and government agencies. The subsidiary banks actively market their services to qualified lending customers. The subsidiary banks have established lending policies which include a number of underwriting factors to be considered in making a loan, including location, loan-to-value ratio, cash flow, collateral and the credit history of the borrower. The company also engages in cardholder credit card processing through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Quad City Bancard, Inc., based in Moline, Illinois, in direct financing lease contracts through its 80% equity investment in m2 Lease Funds, LLC, based in Brookfield, Wisconsin, and in real estate holdings through its 57% equity investment in Velie Plantation Holding Company, LLC based in Moline, Illinois. The Company competes in markets with a number of much larger financial institutions with substantially greater resources and larger lending limits.
