GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Its power generation business includes electric generators, transfer switches and switchgear, and power generation components and controls. Its generators are used in commercial, industrial, agricultural, marine, military, transportation, construction, data centers and other applications. The Company's mechanical segment manufactures and markets a broad array of mechanical motion control products including: standard and custom worm gearboxes, bevel gearboxes, helical gearboxes, and concentric shaft gearboxes; open gearing; marine transmissions; custom gearing; gear motors; manual valve actuators; and electrical connecting devices. The Company's gear and transmission related products primarily control motion by transmitting power from a source, such as an electric motor, to an end use, such as a conveyor belt, usually reducing speed and increasing torque in the process. Its valve actuators are used primarily in oil and gas, water distribution and treatment and chemical processing applications. Mechanical products are sold to OEM's, distributors and end users across many industries. The Company sells its products directly to OEMs, distributors and end-users. The Company compete with a growing number of domestic and international competitors due in part to the nature of the products they manufactures and the wide variety of applications and customers they serve.
