Business Description

Rogers Corporation was founded in 1832. The Company is a global enterprise that provides its customers with innovative solutions and products in a variety of markets, including portable communications, communications infrastructure, consumer electronics, mass transit, automotive, defense and clean technology. The Company manufactures specialty materials, which are grouped into three reportable segments: High Performance Foams; Printed Circuit Materials; and Power Electronics Solutions. High Performance Foams, which includes urethane foams and silicone materials that are sold principally to manufacturers in the portable communication device, communications infrastructure, mass transit and consumer markets; High Performance Foams are sold to fabricators, distributors and original equipment manufacturers for applications in consumer electronics, mass transit, defense and other markets. Printed Circuit Materials, which includes circuit board laminates for high frequency printed circuits, which are sold principally to printed circuit board manufacturers and equipment manufacturers for applications in the computer, portable communication device, communications infrastructure, mass transit, defense, and consumer markets. Printed Circuit Materials are sold principally to independent and captive printed circuit board manufacturers who convert its laminates to custom printed circuits. The polymer-based dielectric layers of Rogers's rigid circuit board laminates are proprietary materials that provide highly specialized electrical and mechanical properties. Trade names for its rigid printed circuit board materials include RO3000(r), RO4000(r), DUROID(r), RT/duroid(r), ULTRALAM(r), RO2800(r) and TMM(r) laminates. Power Electronics Solutions category is comprised of two operating segments - Curamik Electronics Solutions and Power Distribution Systems. Most of the Company's products are sold through direct sales channels positioned near major concentrations of its customers throughout North America, Europe and Asia. The Company is subject to a variety of environmental issues, particularly considering the age of its business and the range of geographic areas and manufacturing processes it has been involved with over the course of time.
