Service Corp International Inc was incorporated in Texas in July of 1962. The Company is a provider of deathcare products and services, with a network of funeral homes and cemeteries unequaled in geographic scale and reach. They operated 1,644 funeral service locations and 514 cemeteries (including 283 funeral service/cemetery combination locations) in North America, which are geographically diversified across 43 states, eight Canadian provinces, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Its funeral segment also includes the operations of 12 funeral homes in Germany that they intend to exit when economic values and conditions are conducive to a sale. There funeral service and cemetery operations consist of funeral service locations, cemeteries, funeral service/cemetery combination locations, crematoria, and related businesses. The Company sell cemetery property and funeral and cemetery merchandise and services at the time of need and on a preneed basis. The Company has global network numbered more than 4,500 funeral service locations, cemeteries, and crematories in more than 20 countries. The Company provide all professional services relating to funerals and cremations, including the use of funeral facilities and motor vehicles and preparation and embalming services. Funeral-related merchandise, including caskets, casket memorialization products, burial vaults, cremation receptacles, cremation memorial products, flowers, and other ancillary products and services, is sold at funeral service locations. Its cemeteries provide cemetery property interment rights, including developed lots, lawn crypts, and mausoleum spaces and sell cemetery-related merchandise and services, including stone and bronze memorials, markers, merchandise installations, and burial openings and closings. The Company also sell preneed funeral and cemetery products and services whereby a customer contractually agrees to the terms of certain products and services to be delivered and performed in the future. They define these sales as preneed sales. The Company's operations are subject to regulations, supervision, and licensing under numerous foreign, federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations, including extensive regulations concerning trust funds, preneed sales of funeral and cemetery products and services, and various other aspects of its business.
