It is a holding company that conducts its retail discount brokerage and investment banking business through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Muriel Siebert & Co., Inc., a Delaware Corporation. The Company provides online and discount brokerage and related services to retail investors, and through Siebert Capital Markets, SCM, offers Institutional clients equity execution services on an agency basis, as well as equity and fixed income underwriting and investment banking services. The Company operates through two divisions: The Retail Division and The Capital Markets Division. The Retail Division offers services such as: discount brokerage and related services, independent retail execution services, retail customer service, retirement accounts, customer financing, and information and communications systems. The activities of the Capital Markets Division are investment banking and institutional equity execution services. SCM provides high-quality brokerage service to both institutional investors and issuers of equity and fixed-income securities. The Company encounters competition from full-commission, online and discount brokerage firms, as well as from financial institutions, mutual fund sponsors and other organizations.
