Semtech Corporation was incorporated in Delaware in 1960. The Company designs, produces and market products that sold into the enterprise computing, communications, high-end consumer and industrial end-markets. High-End Consumer includes handheld products, set-top boxes, digital televisions, digital video recorders and other consumer equipment. Industrial include automated meter reading, military and aerospace, medical, security systems, automotive, industrial and home automation, and other industrial equipment. Enterprise computing product markets include optical receiver and transceiver, desktops, notebooks, servers, graphic boards, monitors, printers, and other computer peripherals. Communications market applications include base stations, backplane, optical networks, carrier networks, switches and routers, servers, cable modems, signal conditioners, wireless LAN, and other communication infrastructure equipment. The Company's end-customers are mainly original equipment manufacturers and their suppliers, including Alcatel, Apple, Cisco, Compal Electronics, Huawei, Hewlett Packard, Intel, LG Electronics, Motorola, Nokia Siemens Networks, Phonak, Quanta Computer, Research In Motion, Samsung, Sanyo, and Sony. The Company designs, develops, manufactures and markets analog and mixed signal semiconductor products. The Company operates its business in one enterprise-wide reportable segment. Its product lines include Power Management Products, Protection Products, Advanced Communication and Sensing Products, Transport and Datacom Products and Microwave and High-Reliability Products. It competes with domestic and international semiconductor companies, many of which have substantially greater financial and other resources with which to pursue engineering, manufacturing, marketing and distribution of their products. The Company is subject to various environmental laws and regulations.
