The Bancorp Inc through its holdings provides retail and commercial & private label banking, institutional banking, health savings accounts & prepaid debit cards & prepaid card issuing services.

The Bancorp Inc is a Delaware corporation and a registered financial holding company. Its primary subsidiary is a wholly owned subsidiary bank, The Bancorp Bank. The Bank is a Delaware chartered commercial bank located in Wilmington, Delaware and is a Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insured institution. The Company through its subsidiary provides commercial and retail banking services and related other banking services. The Company provides services in the areas of Philadelphia-Wilmington metropolitan area, consisting of the 12 counties surrounding Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Wilmington, Delaware including Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, Bucks and Lehigh Counties in Pennsylvania, New Castle County in Delaware and Mercer, Burlington, Camden, Ocean and Cape May Counties in New Jersey. It provides its services to organizations with a pre-existing customer base that could use one or more selected banking services tailored to support or complement the services provided by these organizations to their customers. The Affinity Banking services include private label banking including institutional banking; credit and debit card processing for merchants affiliated with independent service organizations; healthcare savings accounts for healthcare providers and third-party plan administrators; and prepaid cards, also known as stored value cards, for general purpose card sponsors, insurers, incentive plans, large retail chains, consumer service organizations and others. The Company's Commercial banking operations offers Deposit Products and Services including; checking accounts, savings accounts, healthcare accounts, money market accounts, commercial accounts, certificates of deposit; and prepaid and payroll cards. The Company also engaged in lending activities including; commercial term lending, commercial mortgage lending and also provides loan including; constriction loan, 1-4 Family Construction Loans, Commercial Construction, Acquisition and Development, Consumer loans; and also provides Direct Lease Financing. The Company faces competition from Internet-based banks, and from banks, such as Capital One 360 and E-Trade Bank, that provide Internet banking services as part of their overall banking environment. It's Competitors for loans and regional deposits are mid-Atlantic regional banks such as Citizens Bank, Sovereign Bank, TD Bank, M&T Bank and Republic Bank. The Company is subject to governmental rules and regulations.
