Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. is a holding company organized as a Delaware corporation in 1995. The Company's main business operations include insurance products and services in four property and casualty operating segments. These segments are Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Chaucer and Other Property and Casualty. Personal automobile coverage insures individuals against losses incurred from personal bodily injury, bodily injury to third parties, property damage to an insured's vehicle, and property damage to other vehicles and other property. Connections Auto utilizes a multivariate rating application which calculates rates based upon the magnitude and correlation of multiple risk factors and is intended to improve the Company and its agents' competitiveness in its target market segments by offering policies that are more appropriately priced to be commensurate with the underlying risks. Homeowners' coverage insures individuals for losses to their residences and personal property, such as those caused by fire, wind, hail, water damage except for flooding, theft and vandalism, and against third party liability claims. The Company's homeowners' product, Connections Home, is available in sixteen states. It is intended to improve its competitiveness for total account business by making it easier and more efficient for its agents to write business with the company and by providing more coverage options for policyholders. The Company's other personal lines is comprised of personal inland marine, umbrella, fire, personal watercraft, earthquake and other miscellaneous coverage. Avenues, its Commercial Lines product suite, provides agents and customers with products designed for small, middle, and specialized markets. Commercial Lines coverages include: Commercial multiple peril coverage insures businesses against third party liability from accidents occurring on their premises or arising out of their operations, such as injuries sustained from products sold. It also insures business property for damage, such as that caused by fire, wind, hail, water damage except for flooding, theft and vandalism. Commercial automobile coverage insures businesses against losses incurred from personal bodily injury, bodily injury to third parties, property damage to an insured's vehicle, and property damage to other vehicles and other property. Workers' compensation coverage insures employers against employee medical and indemnity claims resulting from injuries related to work. Workers' compensation policies are often written in conjunction with other commercial policies. Other commercial lines are comprised of inland marine, which insures businesses against physical losses to property, such as contractor's equipment, builders' risk and goods in transit.
