Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS was incorporated in Turkey on 5 October 1993. The Company is a provider of mobile services in Turkey. It provides mobile voice, internet and other services over its mobile communications network and has developed mobile brands in Turkey. GSM, a digital standard for mobile communications, was developed in 1987 to facilitate unification and integration of mobile communications worldwide. As a digital standard, GSM offers a range of services that include voice, circuit switched data, packet data and fax, in addition to standard service offerings such as call barring, call forwarding, call waiting and roaming into areas serviced by other GSM carriers. The Company's operations are comprised of the following main operating segments: Turkcell, Euroasia and Belarusian Telecom, all of which are GSM operators in their countries. Other operations mainly include its companies operating in telecommunications, internet and broadband, betting, call center and value added services.The mobile telecommunications industry has increasingly provided mobile data services, and GSM, as a technology platform, is suitable for data transmission. GSM networks have traditionally been used as personal voice communications networks. Currently, many advanced technology platforms are being developed to enable the provision of more sophisticated data services. There are currently three mobile communications operators in Turkey: Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea. The Company currently provides mobile voice, broadband and other services to subscribers throughout Turkey. Subscribers can choose between its postpaid and prepaid services. Voice services are the main services the Company provides to its customers. Voice services consist of GSM services on a prepaid and postpaid basis. Through Mobile Broadband service, the Company provides voice and terminal bundled offers which contain 3G enabled terminal devices such as feature phones, smartphones, 3G modems, tablets, notebooks and netbooks.. The Company's distribution network is composed of distributors such as, Turkcell Distribution Centers, Corporate Solution Centers, non-exclusive dealers, Turkcell Communication Centers, Turkcell Stores. It also sells scratch cards and digital prepaid counters through consumer electronic chains, newspaper kiosks, supermarkets, gas stations, digital channels and ATMs. All telecommunications activity in Turkey is regulated by Information and Communication Technologies Authority.
