Thomson Reuters Corp was incorporated under the Business Corporations Act of Ontario on December 28, 1977. It is a source of intelligent information for the world's businesses and professionals, providing customers with competitive advantage. The Company's division includes Financial & Risk, Legal, Tax & Accounting, and Intellectual Property & Science. It also has Global Growth & Operations organization which works across its business units to combine its capabilities and to expand its local presence and development. The Financial & Risk is a provider of critical news, information and analytics, enabling transactions and bringing together financial communities. Financial & Risk also provides regulatory and operational risk management solutions. Legal division is a provider of critical online and print information, decision support tools, software and services to support legal, investigation, business and government professionals internationally. Tax & Accounting is a provider of integrated tax compliance and accounting information, software and services for professionals in accounting firms, corporations, law firms and government and Intellectual Property & Science is a provider of comprehensive intellectual property and scientific information, decision support tools and services that enable governments, academia, publishers, corporations and law firms to discover, develop and deliver innovations. At Corporate center, the Company manages Reuters, an international news agency, which is a provider of real-time, high-impact, multimedia news and information services to newspapers, television and cable networks, radio stations and websites around the globe. The Company is also involved in Intellectual Property & Science business which provides comprehensive intellectual property (IP) and scientific information, decision support tools and services that enable governments, academia, publishers, corporations and law firms to discover, develop and deliver innovations. The Company's competitors include Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P/Capital IQ, Morningstar, SunGard Data Systems, Broadridge Financial Solutions, IDC, Telekurs, Dow Jones and other companies.
