Business Description

Tyler Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1966. The Company is a major provider of integrated information management solutions and services for the public sector, with a focus on local governments. The Company partners with clients to make local government more accessible to the public, more responsive to the needs of citizens and more efficient in its operations. It has a broad line of software solutions and services to address the information technology (IT) needs of virtually every major area of operation for cities, counties, schools and other local government entities. Most of its customers have its software installed in-house. For customers who prefer not to physically acquire the software and hardware, it provides many of its applications under subscription-based applications service provider (ASP) arrangements. It provides professional IT services to its customers, including software and hardware installation, data conversion, training and, at times, product modifications. It provides a comprehensive and flexible suite of products and services that addresses the information technology needs of cities, counties, schools and other local government entities. It derives its revenues from five primary sources: sales of software licenses; subscription-based arrangements; software services; maintenance and support; and appraisal services. It designs, develops and markets a broad range of software solutions to serve mission-critical 'back-office' functions of local governments. Many of its software applications include Internet-accessible solutions that allow for real-time public access to a variety of information or that allow the public to transact business with local governments via the Internet. The Company's software solutions and services are generally grouped in three major areas: Financial Management and Education; Courts and Justice; and Property Appraisal and Tax and Other. It also offers certain software solutions on a 'software as a service' basis for customers who do not wish to maintain, update and operate these systems or to make large up-front capital expenditures to implement these advanced technologies. Some of the competitors are Oracle Corporation, Lawson Software, Inc., SAP AG, Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. The Company is subject to U.S. federal tax as well as income tax of multiple state and local jurisdictions.
