Unit Corporation is a Delaware corporation, founded in 1963, as an oil and natural gas contract drilling company. The Company engaged in the land contract drilling of natural gas and oil wells, the exploration, development, acquisition, and production of oil and natural gas properties, and the buying, selling, gathering, processing, and treating of natural gas. Its operations are located principally in the United States and are organized in the following three reporting segments: Contract Drilling, Oil and Natural Gas, and Mid-Stream. The Company's contract drilling business is conducted through Unit Drilling Company and its subsidiary Unit Texas Drilling L.L.C. Through these companies it drills onshore oil and natural gas wells for a wide range of other oil and natural gas companies. Its drilling operations are located in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Montana, and North Dakota. Through its subsidiary Unit Petroleum Company, the Company explores, develops, acquires, and produces oil and natural gas properties. It is engaged in producing oil and natural gas properties, undeveloped leaseholds, and related assets are located mainly in Oklahoma and Texas, and to a lesser extent, in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, and Canada. Through its subsidiary, Superior Pipeline Company, L.L.C. and its subsidiaries, the Company buys, sells, gathers, transports, processes, and treats natural gas for third parties. Mid-stream operations are performed in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The Company owns 127 drilling rigs; owns interest in 10,068; owns 3 natural gas treatment plants; 14 processing plants and 39 natural gas gathering systems.
