Urban Outfitters, inc., was incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1976. It is a lifestyle specialty retail company that operates under the Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People and Terrain brands. It also operates a wholesale segment under the Free People and Leifsdottir brands. It operates two business segments; a lifestyle specialty Retailing segment and a Wholesale apparel segment. Retail segment consists of Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, Terrain and BHLDN brands, whose merchandise is sold directly to the customers through retail stores, websites, mobile applications, catalogs and customer contact centers. Wholesale apparel segment consists of the Free People wholesale division that, primarily, designs, develops and markets young women's contemporary casual apparel. It provides unified store environments that establish emotional bonds with the customer.
