U.S. Energy Corp., a Wyoming corporation was incorporated on January 26, 1966. The Company is an energy company which acquires, explores, and develops oil and gas producing properties and other mineral properties in the continental United States. It currently explores for and produces oil and gas through a non-operator business model. As a non-operator, it's relied on its operating partners to propose, permit, drill, complete and produce the oil and gas wells. Its operating partners also produce, transport, market and account for all oil and gas production. The Company is also involved in: the exploration for and development of minerals (molybdenum) through its ownership of the Mt. Emmons Project located in west central Colorado, which is a long-term development mining project, geothermal resources through Standard Steam Trust LLC ('SST') and Remington Village Apartments, a multi-family housing project serving the residential market in Gillette, Wyoming. It has two operating segments: Oil and Gas and Maintenance of Mineral Properties (including molybdenum and geothermal). It participate in oil and gas projects mainly as a non-operating working interest owner through exploration and development agreements with various oil and gas exploration and production companies. It's also pursuing potential acquisitions of exploration, development or production-stage oil and gas properties or companies. Its competitors consist of major and intermediate sized integrated oil and natural gas companies, independent oil and natural gas companies and individual producers and operators. In particular, it competes for property acquisitions and for the equipment and labor required to operate and develop its properties. Its operations are subject to various federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding the discharge of materials into the environment or otherwise relating to the protection of the environment, including NEPA, the Clean Air Act, and Federal Water Pollution Control Act of 1972.
