Vale S.A. was Limited Liability Company incorporated in Brazil. It is a metals and mining company. The Company is a producer of iron ore and iron ore pellets and the producer of nickel and kaolin. It is also one of the producers of manganese ore and ferroalloys. The Company also produces bauxite, alumina, aluminum, copper, coal, cobalt, precious metals, potash and other products. Vale operates logistics systems in Brazil, including railroads, maritime terminals and a port, which are integrated with its mining operations. Ferrous minerals: Iron ore, iron ore pellets and manganese and ferroalloys: It operates three systems in Brazil for producing and distributing iron ore. Non-ferrous minerals: Nickel, the Company's main nickel mines and processing operations are carried out by its subsidiary Vale Inco, with mining operations in Canada and Indonesia. Aluminum: It is engaged in bauxite mining, alumina refining and aluminum metal smelting. In Brazil, the Company owns a bauxite mine and an alumina refinery, both of which it is currently expanding. Copper: It has copper mining operations in Brazil and Canada. In Brazil, it produces copper concentrates at Sossego in Carajas, in the state of Para. In Canada, it produces copper concentrate, copper anode and copper cathode in conjunction with its nickel mining operations at Sudbury and Voisey's Bay. PGMs: The Company produces platinum-group metals as by-products of its nickel mining and processing operations in Canada. The PGMs are concentrated at its Port Colborne facilities, in the Province of Ontario, Canada and refined at its precious metals refinery in Acton, England. Other precious metals: the Company produces gold and silver as by-products of its nickel mining and processing operations in Canada. Some of these precious metals are upgraded at its facilities in Port Colborne, Ontario and all are refined by unrelated parties in Canada. Other non-ferrous minerals: the Company is a producer of kaolin for the paper industry and Brazil's sole producer of potash. It produces cobalt as a by-product of its nickel mining and processing operations in Canada and refines it at its Port Colborne facilities. Coal: It produces metallurgical and thermal coal through Vale Australia Holdings, which operates coal assets in Australia through wholly-owned subsidiaries and unincorporated joint ventures. Logistics: It is a provider of logistics services in Brazil, with railroads, maritime terminals and a port. Two of its three iron ore systems incorporate an integrated railroad network linked to automated port and terminal facilities, which provide rail transportation for its mining products, general cargo and passengers, bulk terminal storage and ship loading services for its mining operations and for customers. The Company owns and operates integrated railroad and terminal networks in the in the three mining complexes, which are accessible by road or by spur tracks of its EFVM railroad. The Company's EFVM
