Verso Paper Corp. is a Delaware corporation, which began operations on August 1, 2006. The Company is a North American supplier of coated papers to catalog and magazine publishers. The Company operates in the following three market segments: coated papers; hardwood market pulp; and other, consisting of specialty papers. Coated paper is used primarily in media and marketing applications, including catalogs, magazines, and commercial printing applications, such as high-end advertising brochures, annual reports, and direct mail advertising. The Company is the producer of coated freesheet paper which is used primarily for annual reports, brochures, and magazine covers. It also produces and sells market kraft pulp which is used to manufacture printing and writing paper grades and tissue products. The products of Company are products are used primarily in media and marketing applications, including catalogs, magazines, and commercial printing applications such as high-end advertising brochures, annual reports, and direct-mail advertising. It operates eight paper machines at three mills located in Maine and Michigan. The mills have a combined annual production capacity of approximately 1,305,000 tons of coated paper, 160,000 tons of ultra-lightweight specialties and uncoated papers, and 930,000 tons of kraft pulp. The Company sells and markets its products to approximately 130 customers which comprise approximately 700 end-user accounts. The basic raw materials used in papermaking process are wood fiber, market kraft pulp, chemicals, and energy. The operations of Company are subject to a wide range of federal, state, regional, and local general and industry specific environmental, health and safety laws and regulations.
