GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Xerium Technologies Inc was organized in 1999 in connection with the acquisition of the paper technology group of Invensys plc. The Company completed its initial public offering and reorganization on May 19, 2005. The Company is global manufacturer and supplier of two types of consumable products used mainly in the production of paper-clothing and roll covers. The Company's machine clothing and roll cover products are primarily installed on pulp and paper-making machines and play key roles in the process by which raw materials are converted into finished paper. Paper producers rely on the Company's products and services to help improve the quality of their paper, differentiate their paper products, operate their paper-making machines more efficiently and reduce production costs. It is used in the forming, pressing and drying stages of paper production, the machine clothing size, form, material and function is custom engineered to fit each individual paper-making machine and process. The Company's roll cover products provide a surface with the mechanical properties necessary to process the paper sheet in a cost-effective manner that delivers the sheet qualities desired by the paper producer. Roll covers are tailored to individual paper-making machines and processes, using different materials, treatments and finishing's. In addition to manufacturing and selling new roll covers, it also provide refurbishment services for previously installed roll covers and manufacture new and rebuilt spreader rolls. It also provide related products and services to customers, both directly and through third party providers, as a growing part of its overall product offering through roll covers sales channels.
