Expedia Inc is an online travel company. The Company offers holiday packages, rental cars, cruises, as well as destination services and activities. Its business segments are Leisure and Egencia.

Expedia Inc was formed on August 9, 2005. It is an online travel company. The Company offers holiday packages, rental cars, cruises, as well as destination services and activities. The Company's brands portfolio includes, Expedia.com, offers service online travel agency with localized sites in 31 countries; Hotels.com, a hotel specialist with localized sites in more than 60 countries and Hotwire.com, a discount travel site that offers opaque deals in 12 countries throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Expedia Affiliate Network (EAN), which powers bookings for some of the airlines and hotels, top consumer brands, high traffic websites, and thousands of active affiliates; Egencia, offers corporate travel management company, trivago GmbH ("trivago"), aonline hotel metasearch company with sites in 49 countries, Venere.com, an online hotel reservation specialist in Europe, CarRentals.com, a car rental booking company on the web, Expedia Local Expert (LX), a provider of online and in-market concierge services, activities, experiences, and ground transportation in hundreds of destinations and Expedia CruiseShipCenters, a provider of exceptional advice for travelers booking cruises and vacations through its network of 180 franchise locations across North America. The Company's business segments are Core OTA, trivago, Egencia, and HomeAway. The Core OTA segment provides travel and advertising services to the company's customers through a variety of brands including: Expedia.com and Hotels.com in the United States and localized Expedia and Hotels.com websites, Orbitz.com, Expedia Affiliate Network, Hotwire.com, Travelocity, Venere, Wotif Group, CarRentals.com, and Classic Vacations. The trivago segment provides advertising services by sending referrals to online travel companies and travel service providers from its hotel metasearch websites. The Egencia segment, which also includes Orbitz for Business, provides managed travel services to corporate customers. The HomeAway segment operates an online marketplace for the vacation rental industry. The Company's competitors include online and offline travel companies that target leisure and corporate travelers, including travel agencies, tour operators, travel supplier direct websites and their call centers, consolidators and wholesalers of travel products and services, large online portals and search websites, certain travel meta-search websites, mobile travel applications, social media websites, as well as traditional consumer eCommerce and group buying websites. The Company's business is subject to regulation by the U.S. Department of Transportation and must comply with various rules and regulations governing the provision of air transportation, including those relating to advertising and accessibility.
