USG Corp was incorporated in Delaware on October 22, 1984. The Company is a manufacturer and distributor of building materials. It produces products for use in new residential, new nonresidential, and residential and nonresidential repair and remodel construction as well as products used in certain industrial processes. Demand for its products from new nonresidential construction is determined by floor space for which contracts are signed. Installation of gypsum and ceilings products typically follows signing of construction contracts by about 12 to 18 months. The repair and remodel market includes renovation of both residential and nonresidential buildings. Its operations are organized into three reportable segments: North American Gypsum, Worldwide Ceilings and Building Products Distribution. North American Gypsum manufactures and markets gypsum and related products in the United States, Canada and Mexico. North American Gypsum's products are used to construct the walls, ceilings, roofs and floors of residential, commercial and institutional buildings, as well as in certain industrial applications. These products provide aesthetic as well as sound-dampening, fire-retarding, abuse-resistance and moisture-control value. Its brands include SHEETROCK, DUROCK, FIBEROCK, SECUROCK, LEVELROCK, RED TOP, IMPERIAL, DIAMOND and SUPREMO. These products provide aesthetic, sound-dampening, fire-retarding and abuse-resistance value. It also produces gypsum-based products for agricultural and industrial customers to use in a wide variety of applications, including soil conditioning, road repair, fireproofing and ceramics. Its competitors include: National Gypsum Company, CertainTeed Corporation, Georgia-, American Gypsum Company LLC, Continental Building Products LLC and PABCO Gypsum, CertainTeed Corporation, Georgia-Pacific and Cabot Gypsum Company, Panel Rey, S.A. and Comex-Lafarge. Worldwide Ceilings manufactures and markets interior systems products in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. Worldwide Ceilings is a supplier of interior ceilings products used primarily in commercial applications. Worldwide Ceilings manufactures ceiling tile in the United States and ceiling grid in the United States, Canada and the Asia-Pacific region. It markets ceiling tile and ceiling grid in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. Its integrated line of ceilings products provides qualities such as sound absorption, fire retardation and convenient access to the space above the ceiling for electrical and mechanical systems, air distribution and maintenance. Its significant brand names include the RADARTM, ECLIPSETM, MARSTM, and HALCYONTM brands of ceiling tile and the DONN, DX, FINELINE, CENTRICITEETM, DXI IDENTITEETM, CURVATURATM and COMPASSOTM brands of ceiling grid.
