USG Corp through its subsidiaries is engaged in manufacturing and distribution of building materials. Its products are used in new residential, new nonresidential and residential and nonresidential repair & remodel construction.

USG Corp was incorporated in Delaware on October 22, 1984. The Company is a manufacturer and distributor of building materials. It produces products for use in new residential, new nonresidential, and residential and nonresidential repair and remodel construction as well as products used in certain industrial processes. The repair and remodel market includes renovation of both residential and nonresidential buildings. Its operations are organized into four reportable segments: Gypsum, Ceilings, Distribution and USG Boral Building Products, or UBBP. The Gypsum segment manufactures and markets gypsum and related products in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin American. Gypsum's products are used to construct the walls, ceilings, roofs and floors of residential, commercial and institutional buildings, as well as in certain industrial applications. It also produces gypsum-based products for agricultural and industrial customers to use in applications, including soil conditioning, road repair, fireproofing and ceramics. Its brands include Sheetrock, Durock, Fiberock, Securock, Levelrock, Red Top, Imperial, Diamond and Supremo. It also produces gypsum-based products for agricultural and industrial customers to use applications, including soil conditioning, road repair, fireproofing and ceramics. Its competitors include: National Gypsum Company, CertainTeed Corporation, Georgia-Pacific, American Gypsum Company LLC, Continental Building Products LLC and PABCO Gypsum. Ceilings segment manufactures and markets interior systems products in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin America. This segment manufactures ceiling tile in the United States and ceiling grid in the United States, Canada and the Asia-Pacific region. It markets ceiling tile and ceiling grid in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. Its integrated line of ceilings products provides qualities such as sound absorption, fire retardation and convenient access to the space above the ceiling for electrical and mechanical systems, air distribution and maintenance. Its brand names include the Radar, Eclipse, Mars, and Halcyon brands of ceiling tile and the Donn, DX, Fineline, Centricitee, Identitee DXI, Curvatura and Compasso brands of ceiling grid. It sells products in markets related to the construction and renovation of nonresidential buildings. Its principal competitors in acoustical ceiling tile include Armstrong World Industries, Inc., Rockfon, Knauf AMF GmbH & Co. KG and Odenwald Faserplattenwerk GmbH (OWA). Its principal competitors in ceiling grid include WAVE, Chicago Metallic Corporation and CertainTeed Corporation. The Distribution segment consists of L&W Supply, a distributor of gypsum wallboard and other building materials in the United States.
